Meet the Farmers Feed: watch your food grow

The Farmers Feed is a video stream of real updates from real farms — crops sprouting, cattle being weighed, batches coming ready. Here's why we built it.

Meet the Farmers Feed: watch your food grow

Introduction

Every marketplace has photos. A photo of a tomato tells you what a tomato looks like — it doesn't tell you who's growing it, where, or whether they'll still have tomatoes next month.

The Farmers Feed is our answer: a scrolling video feed of short updates posted by farmers themselves. It's the heartbeat of FarmPlace, and it's the first thing you see when you open the app.

What shows up in the feed

Farmers post quick videos from the field:

  • Crop progress — seedling to harvest, week by week
  • Livestock checks — weights, health, new arrivals
  • Batch announcements — "my onions are ready Friday, 800kg"
  • Farm life — the weather, the work, the wins and losses

It's not polished marketing. It's a farmer with a phone showing you their actual morning — which is exactly why it works.

Why video builds trust

Text can be copied. Photos can be reused from last season. A farmer standing in their field, talking about this week's batch while the crop is visible behind them? That's hard to fake.

Buyers who watch a farmer's updates for a few weeks know more about that farm than any inspection certificate could tell them. When they pre-order, they're not buying a listing — they're buying from someone they recognize.

From watch to order

Every update links back to the farmer's profile and their active listings. See a batch you like growing? Tap through, reserve your share, and keep watching until it's ready for pickup.

The feed isn't content for content's sake — it's the shortest path between "where does my food come from" and "I'm buying from that farm."
